Understated Elegance

My Pointe Shoe looks quite delicate from the very first glance,

But take a second look at the pointe shoe that makes me want to dance,

My satin slipper is strong and sturdy and lets me twirl and leap,

It gives me grace and elegance, and priceless memories I can keep.

Many hours of sweat and blood were poured into that shoe,

So I’d rather keep my old trophy than get one that’s brand new.

This shoe has experienced the time it takes to perfect each ballet dance,

And knows that when performance day comes you only have one chance.

So even though it appears to be a fragile, tattered shoe,

Underneath it is durable and it alters the beauty of you.
